Liberty Way

Liberty Way is a multi-use sports stadium in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, which is owned by Nuneaton Borough A.F.C. but is also used by Nuneaton R.F.C. who rent the stadium from the football club. Liberty Way has been used by the rugby club since the 1990's, however, it was a mere pitch with a perimeter fence and was nothing like the modern facilities the complex currently boasts.

Nuneaton Borough moved into the stadium prior to the start of the 2007/08 season, and their first ever match at the stadium was played on Tuesday 17th July 2007, when local rivals Coventry City visited for a 2-2 draw. The first ever goal at the stadium was scored by a Brazilian trialist playing for Coventry, whilst the first Boro player to score was defender Gavin Cowan.

Liberty Way is part of the Attleborough Fields Industrial Estate and therefore the stadium is surrounded by warehouses and factories. There is a sizeable car park at the stadium, as well as other pitches that will eventually be used for both football and rugby when the whole project is completed.

The stadium is not yet fully completed, however, it reaches the standard required to host Blue Square North football. Inside the stadium it consists of the Ian Neale Stand which can hold 1,800 supporters, the Away Stand which can hold 1,000 visiting supporters, and the Rugby Club Terrace which will be the only uncovered part of the stadium once the seated Main Stand has been built.

Currently a temporary seated stand with 500 seats has been erected and will stay in place until the Main Stand is in place. It is planned that the Main Stand will have 1,050 seats. The temporary office and clubhouse facilities at the stadium will be replaced by permanent facilities once this stand has been constructed.

The pitch is one of the most impressive features at Liberty Way and has had a lot of money spent on ensuring it can cope with the rigours of hosting both football and rugby matches. It is also by far the biggest pitch in the Blue Square North with measurements of 121 x 71 yards.
