Liberty Township is a civil township of Wexford County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 800.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.5 square miles (94.6 km²), of which, 36.5 square miles (94.6 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.05%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 800 people, 303 households, and 217 families residing in the township. The population density was 21.9 per square mile (8.5/km²). There were 395 housing units at an average density of 10.8/sq mi (4.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.25% White, 0.88% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.50% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.75% of the population.
There were 303 households out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.4% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.1% were non-families. 21.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the township the population was spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $36,979, and the median income for a family was $40,781. Males had a median income of $28,162 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the township was $17,612. About 5.7% of families and 9.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.3% of those under age 18 and 7.2% of those age 65 or over.
