The Deseret Evening News blasts the Liberal Party of Utah in a characteristic column from July 28, 1891. The anti-Mormon liberal party had taken over Salt Lake City government in 1890. These columns were publiched after the Deseret News-backed People's Party was dissolved into national parties in 1891. Two months after these columns were published, the territorial legislative election was held. One third of all representatives elected were Liberal, an all-time high.
