Liam Frost, real name Liam Pickering, is an alternative/folk artist, from Manchester, England. He records and plays with "The Slowdown Family". They are on a small independent record label, Lavolta records. As a group they describe themselves as sounding like James Younger- but camper and more emo, influenced by bands such as Pedro the Lion and The Shins. After relentless touring on his own from an early age, and a solo support slot with Stephen Fretwell, Liam Frost and the Slowdown Family are now headlining small venues across the UK.

[edit] Biography
Having played every den in Manchester over the past couple of years, 22 year old Mancunian Liam Frost released his debut EP, She Painted Pictures, in February 2006 on Lavolta Records. Liam made his live debut at 15 years of age, reeling off fake dates of birth to perform at the infamous Akoustic Anarchy nights at the Star & Garter. After a few years singing in ‘shouty punk bands around Manchester’, Liam went solo in 2003 at the ripe old age of 20.
Shouty punk’s loss is charming, eccentric, acoustic pop’s gain as the man who has also been described by Guy Garvey (of the band Elbow) as “the UK’s answer to Bright Eyes” started to write prolifically over the following two years. His songs heavily focused on the death, ten years apart, of his father and brother and the impact these events had on his life and the lives of those around him.
Building a devoted fanbase in Manchester and wowing crowds nationwide supporting fellow troubadour Stephen Fretwell, Liam has also shared a stage with Nine Black Alps, Willy Mason, Badly Drawn Boy and Kinks legend Ray Davies.
It's been a busy year so far for Liam and his band The Slowdown Family. They spent the early part of 2006 in a London studio with Coldplay producer Danton Supple, recording what will become their debut album, set for release later in the year. They have recently completed their first headline tour of the UK and made appearances at many of the UK festivals throughout the summer. Their first 3 singles have been released on Lavolta; the ultra rare She Painted Pictures EP in February, the achingly beautiful The Mourners of St Paul's and latest single The City is at Standstill. Their debut album, "Show Me How The Spectres Dance", was released on Lavolta records on September 11th, to much critical acclaim.
The Mourners of St Paul's was voted the #1 single of 2006 by Channel 4's Planet Sound.
