Liam James D'Arcy Brown is a British sinologist and travel writer (D'Arcy Brown is an unhyphenated double-barrelled surname). Born in Lewisham, London in 1970, he lives in Warwickshire with his wife Becky. He studied Chinese at Oxford University and Chinese History at Fudan University, Shanghai. His first full-length book, Green Dragon, Sombre Warrior, was published in 2003.[1] He has since been working on a history of the British occupations of the Chinese island of Chusan during the nineteenth century, and on a second full-length book on China's Grand Canal.[2]
