[edit] James Muir Cameron (industrialist)

Thanks for starting this article, and the one on his father. I had thought I might do so today, so that's one less task for me. However, I am puzzled by the naming. His surname was Fletcher, so that should appear in the title. How it should be disambiguated from the article on his father I'm not sure; perhaps by using the full name James Muir Cameron Fletcher, or James Fletcher II or James Fletcher Junior. I think I'd favour the "II" or the full name; I don't see much use of the "Junior" other than in Wikipedia. If the name is unique, there's no need to have a disambiguation part to the title, such as (industrialist).-gadfium 20:11, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, I think the page James Fletcher should become a disambiguation page. The existing entomologist article there is probably not obviously the most famous person of that name. I suggest raising the matter on the talk page and seeing if there are any objection rather than unilaterally moving the page. I'll do it if you like.-gadfium 20:15, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Destiny New Zealand

Shouldn't it be moved from List_of_political_parties_in_New_Zealand#Registered_parties_outside_of_Parliament to List_of_political_parties_in_New_Zealand#Historical_parties and from Template:New Zealand political parties to Template:Historic New Zealand political parties? —Nightstallion 10:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for input

Hey, I just thought I'd seek your input over on Talk:Main South Line. There's plenty of encyclopaedic info on the Christchurch-Lyttelton section that could be added to Wikipedia and I'd like some thoughts on how to proceed. Thanks! - Axver 03:06, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Republican news

Hi! Apart from Australia and Jamaica, which I suppose you're well aware of, there's two more bits of republican good news:

  • Solomon Islands will finally finish its constitutional reform process in October 2008; the new constitution will certainly be republican (though it's a bit difficult to find outright confirmation on this, this draft from some time ago, for instance, also declares the state a republic).
  • There's a rumour running around that Barbados may finally see the republic referendum next month which has been planned since at least 2005.

Cheers! —Nightstallion 23:30, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New NZ railway category

Hi Lholden - just contacting you and a couple of other editors I know of who work on NZR articles to let you know that I've just created Cat:Railway stations in New Zealand, to parallel similar categories for other countries. Haven't really begun to populate it yet (any help you could give there would be useful), but basically I'm just letting you know it's there and can be used. Cheers, Grutness...wha? 23:13, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Greenland

I saw your interview on Wikinews, and there's a misconception about Greenland and Denmark that needs to be cleared up. You give Greenland as "an example of a country with a governor-general, but is under direct rule from Denmark." Neither is the case.

Greenland has been constitutionally part of Denmark since 1953, enjoying Home Rule since 1979, and has two seats in the Folketing, as do the Faroe Islands. There is a High Commissioner or Rigsombudsmand who represents the Queen of Denmark as head of state as well as the Danish government. The relationship is similar to the one that New Caledonia has France.

Iceland, on the other hand, retained the Danish monarch as head of state from independence in 1918 until it became a republic in1944. There is an independence movement in the Faroe Islands as well as Greenland, where the possibility of keeping the Queen of Denmark as head of state has been mooted, although you can probably work out how the Republican Party feels about that. [edit] Monarchy articles

Lholden- I see you've been involved in the editing of New Zealand monarchy and on its talk page. There's presently a poll going on regarding the format of the titles for all Commonwealth realm monarchy articles. If you'd like to register an opinion, please do so here. Cheers. --G2bambino (talk) 16:09, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello Lholden. Why did you co-sign your -vote- at Commonwealth realm monarchies with my moniker? Not offended, just curious. GoodDay (talk) 19:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
PS- Actually a better question is, How did you do it. GoodDay (talk) 19:47, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Niuean election

Hi! As you're from NZ, I suppose it's easier for you to find information on the Niuean election yesterday...? I haven't been able to find *anything* on it in the news, which makes me rather sceptic about the validity of the date we've got... Thanks! —Nightstallion 21:17, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Normally there'd be something on Radio New Zealand International, but the only references I can see anywhere were speculations made in January that an election might be held in April. There's supposed to be one every three years, and the previous one was in 2005. On the other hand, the 2005 election was held on 30 April, and results appeared in mid May, so maybe it's just too early to see any results.-gadfium 21:38, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Mh. Still, strange... Thanks a lot! —Nightstallion 09:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
