LGV Picardie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The LGV Picardie is a proposed high-speed railway line running between Paris and Calais, via Amiens, in France. It would be used by TGV trains operated by SNCF, the French national railway company, and Eurostar trains heading for the Channel Tunnel. The line would cut off the corner of the LGV Nord via Lille, saving 20 minutes on the journey between Paris and Calais and making London to Paris in under 2 hours a possibility. This line is principally supported by residents of Amiens: as the LGV Nord didn't pass through the city, they are hoping for a new line to take them direct to either Paris or London.

The estimated cost of the line ranges from 3.2 to 4.4 billion €.
