Wikipedia:LGBT-related collaboration of the week
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page is in its infancy, but the general aim is to give Wikipedians interested in LGBT-related topics a focus, to fill in the gaps and improve articles on LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, to promote coherence and flow between such articles, and to promote cooperative editing.
As yet, there has been little discussion and no consensus on how this page will be used, but for now it is proposed that users nominate LGBT-related articles that need work here, and that, after voting, one article is chosen and worked on collaboratively, with the aim of creating polished, complete articles suitable for featured-article status (where appropriate. See Wikipedia:What is a featured article for more information).
These articles can either be LGBT topics sorely in need of work; LGBT topics that as yet do not have articles; or LGBT topics that are stubs (this may change).
Anyone can nominate an article and can vote for the nominated articles. You do not have to identify as LGBT to vote.
Once per week (or less often; this is as yet undecided) the votes will be tallied and the chosen article promoted to contributors via a notice on the LGBT notice board (and/or, if someone is willing to take on the job, by other means).

[edit] Proposed procedure for selecting the next Collaboration of the Week
[edit] Voting
Please vote for as many of the following candidates as you like, adding only votes in support. The winning article shall be the one with the most votes in support (see Approval voting).
To vote, edit the appropriate section(s) by adding a number sign and your signature ("# ~~~~") on a new line. This will add your username and a time stamp in a new numbered list item.
[edit] Tie-breakers
In case of a tie, voting will be extended for 24 hours. If there is still a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins.
[edit] Nominations
New nominations can be made at any time and should be added at the end of the page. Please use the template.
If the page you are nominating already exists, please add {{subst:LGBT-related COTW candidate|Thispage=Article name}} to the top of its talk page. This expands to:
Template:LGBT-related COTW candidate
If the article is selected as the Collaboration of the Week, the template {{Current LGBT-related COTW}} should go at the top of the article page. This expands to:
Template:Current LGBT-related COTW
[edit] Considerations for nominations
- Please only nominate LGBT-related articles. If you want to nominate an article that is not LGBT-related please use Collaboration of the Week, which is not specific to LGBT-related articles.
- Giving reasons why an article should become the LGBT-related Collaboration of the Week may assist others in casting their vote.
- Can the wider community easily contribute to the article? Or is it something only a small number of people will know about?
- Remember to list articles on List of LGBT-related topics.
[edit] Pruning
Nominations will be moved to /Removed if they do not receive any votes in the first week (7 days) of being nominated.
If a candidate has no vote, its nominator may withdraw the nomination.
/Current LGBT COTW can also be used and should be regularly updated.
