[edit] nambla & subcategories

why is nambla listed in LGBT organizations? the focus of their organiztion is pedophilia, not LGBT rights or advocacy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.235.54.44 (talk • contribs) 15:56, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

This is quite absurd... the creation of these subcategories just to get NAMBLA off of the main page. By this logic should not all organizations that do not expressly support transgendered individuals be subcategorized as "Lesbian and Gay" organizations? Is this rearrangement really making Wikipedia a better source of information? Unlikely. 65.190.208.65 22:29, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. What exactly is the point of creating a seperate "gay organizations" category, and how is this any different from an LGBT organization? Seems like just a clumsy inappropriate way of trying to find some compromise between those who want NAMBLA in the LGBT category and those who don't. --Xyzzyplugh 05:04, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
The Gay organizations category was created as the result of official moderation regarding the classification of NAMBLA. It was decided that since NAMBLA does not expressly involve the entirety of the lesbian, gay and transgendered community a subcategory was deserved. Accordingly, I have removed organizations that I could not determine to expressly include the transgendered community to the subcategory Category:Lesbian and Gay organizations. Where available, I checked the organization's home pages, and have moved those that do not mention transgender in their own organizational descriptions or mission statements. I think that the "nambla rule" is a poor precedent, but it should be applied to all organizations in this category so long as it exists. Tomyumgoong 23:07, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
