Lex and Terry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lex (Lex Staley) and Terry (Terry Jaymes) are two syndicated morning drive radio hosts broadcasting from Dallas, Texas on KEGL 97.1 FM. Their show is distributed and sold by Envision Radio Networks.
The show airs live from 5am - 10am CST every weekday. Lex and Terry can also be heard on XM Satellite Radio Channel 152 - Extreme XM. The show on XM airs from 11am-3pm EST. A daily podcast of the complete program is available via iTunes and other podcast clients.
The show was conceived and hosted for over a decade in Jacksonville, Florida, airing on WFYV-FM/104.5 (Classic Rock station Rock 105). After a contract dispute with Cox Communications (who wanted more control over the show than the hosts were willing to give), Lex and Terry left Cox and signed with Clear Channel.
Lex and Terry were off the air in Jacksonville for four months beginning in October 2005, because of a non-compete clause in their contract with Cox. On February 1st 2006, Lex and Terry returned to the Jacksonville airwaves on modern rock station Planet Radio 107.3/WPLA.
Lex and Terry have been given various nicknames over the years, their most notable being "The Givers" due to their tendency to lavish free merchandise on their listeners. A tradition on the show is for listeners to announce "Givers!" at the beginning of their call to which the hosts reply "Us!" Other nicknames in the past have included "Funk Soul Brothers" and "Bottom Feeders."

[edit] The staff
Although the name of the show is credited to Lex and Terry, every member of the staff provides on-air talent in addition to performing their behind the scenes duties.
[edit] Lex Staley
Lex is one half of the show's namesake and the host with the most radio experience. He has spent the majority of his adult life in a radio job in some form or other. His career began in 1978 where he worked in sales at WKUE-FM in Jacksonville and eventually moved into the role of on-air talent. He later moved to WFYV-FM in Jacksonville, hosting various mid-day and evening shows and serving as the station's music and program director. In 1997, Staley decided to step down from this position to focus on creating his own morning radio network.
[edit] Terry Jaymes
The other half of the show's title, Terry has more than 20 years experience in the entertainment industry, having worked in both radio and television and as a stand-up comic, being featured on Fox's former hits Comic Strip Live, Pure Insanity, and Sunday Comics. He also had a minor recurring role on the popular soap opera Santa Barbara.
[edit] The rest of the crew
Sam Kouvaris Based in Jacksonville, Sam serves as the sports man on the show, broadcasting live from his home every morning to discuss the various goings-on in the sports world with the hosts. Sam is the sports director for WJXT TV 4 Jacksonville and also manages his own sports blog.
Peter Welpton Peter is the managing director of the show, but unlike many MD's on other radio programs, Peter is also a featured member of the on-air talent, most recently stepping in as interim news man in the absence of a regular "newschick." The hosts have a love/hate relationship with Peter, frequently bickering with him and making him the butt of many jokes, but are the first to go to bat for him if ever a question of his professionalism and dedication to the show comes up. Peter takes the jokes in stride, and while some of their debates tend to get a bit heated, both sides know when it's time to move on.
Scott Richards Scott serves as the show's producer and is responsible for the various technical duties of the program, including the creation of the show's bumpers and the show's intro segments, as well as keeping the show under time and letting the hosts know when it's time to cut to commercial breaks. Scott has also proved himself an accomplished sound editor, as one of the key features of the show is the use of random humorous sound bites throughout the program, which Scott is responsible for editing and adding in throughout the day.
Develle "Dee" Reed Dee serves as a production assistant on the show, his most frequent task being that of call screener, although Dee has proven himself to be invaluable when it comes to many of the show's bits. Some of his most notable sketches include "The Paging Game," "Is Cindy There?" and "The Race Card."
Tyler "Taint" Baker Taint originally came on the Lex and Terry staff as an intern, but as of April, 2007, is a full-time employee of the staff. A seeming glutton for punishment, Taint has proven that there are no lengths to which he will not go for the sake of the show, going so far as to eat crickets off of Dee's rear end to having his pubic hair waxed live on the air. Taint is also featured in many of the show's bits, his most notable being "Helper Taint", "Taint On a Bus", "Black Like Taint", and "Make Taint Scream."
Biskit Often naive, Biskit was named the "Biggest Dumb Ass of the Show" on June 2,2008. The title was given after a series of questions, the first to ansewer ten was the "not a dumb ass" (which suprisingly was Taint.)
SuperBad is the newest member of the Crew. He the sixteen year old intern given his name because of his resemblance to Jonah Hill of the movies Superbad, Knocked up, and The forty year old virgin. As of June 2, 2008, Superbad was anointed the second biggest Dumb ass, second only to Biskit, after a series of general knowledge questions posed to Taint, Biskit, and Superbad. Superbad is also now being trained as a call screener. Superbad has been included in bits such as "Homeless comic" and "To smell the truth" where he puked multiple times.

Over the years, Lex and Terry have garnered many celebrity friends who frequently call the show or are called upon by the hosts, including, but not limited to:
Brett Myers - Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher.
Bruce Baum - Comedian.
Bunny love - Prostitute and employee of the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, the focus of the HBO series Cathouse.
