[edit] Biography
The eldest of five boys, Lewis Clay was born in 1982 in Ashford, Surrey, England. His parents are Caroline and Ian Clay.
From a young age Lewis acted in various plays and musical productions until he acquired the agent Stephanie Manuel. He then flirted with a mainstream career, with appearances on various commercials and television shows such as Smith and Jones and modeling companies books.
In 2000 Lewis, now living with his mother and stepfather Neil Martin, graduated from Brooklands College with a BTEC National Diploma in Theatre Studies. Finding that acting was not all it appeared to be Lewis focused his efforts on his love of music. He was in and out of various bands, and worked as a TV extra to support himself. He was eventually asked by a casting agent to audition for a part in Beeban Kidron Movie, Hippie Hippie Shake. This would eventually lead to Lewis's band 'The Heal' being asked to play the band Free. In a scene for the film Lewis also played Paul Rodgers, recreating Free's performance at The Isle Of Wight Festival in 1970 .
On the back of Hippie Hippie Shake Lewis was asked to audition for director Michael Offer who was casting a BBC Drama production in late 2007. Lewis auditioned and was cast as disciple Thomas in 2008's The Passion, which starred Joseph Mawle in the lead role of Jesus. It was produced by Nigel Stafford-Clark who has won Baftas for his work on various productions (including Warriors and Bleak House) and was written by Emmy-winning Frank Deasy. Lewis also doubled for Joseph Mawle in various scenes during filming.
Lewis is still a member of The Heal.
