Lew, Oxfordshire

Lew is a small village and civil parish in Oxfordshire, England between Curbridge, Oxfordshire and Bampton, Oxfordshire. Census data (2001) put the population at 65. It is in the Church of England parish Bampton with Clanfield.[1] The primary schools serving Lew are a choice of either Bampton Primary School or Brize Norton Primary School. Lew is currently in the catchment of Burford School.

[edit] Habitat, Flora and Wildlife
Much of the area around Lew is a mix of arable and grazing sprinkled with small woodland areas such as Lew Gorse. There are a number of mammals in the area including Roe Deer, Muntjac Deer, Badger, Fox, Hare and Rabbit. Amongst the bird species represented, the Kestrel, Common Buzzard, Barn Owl, and Tawny Owl are predominant amongst the predatory birds. Other birds of note include Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Lapwing and Goldfinch as well as game birds such as Red-legged Partridge, Common Pheasant and Wood Pigeon.
