[edit] Licensing
This image is of a poster, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher or the creator of the work depicted. It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of posters
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
[edit] Fair use rationale in Mike Tyson & Lennox Lewis
Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use in Wikipedia is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- It is a historically significant promotional poster of an extremely notable sports event. Lennox Lewis' successful defense of the heavyweight title against the former champion Tyson.
- There is no free replacement alternative of the image.
- It is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality - it is a photograph of a poster).
- The image is only being used for informational purposes.
- Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject(s) of this article and the sporting event promoted in the image and significant effects on the careers of both Tyson, Lewis and the heavyweight boxing championship title.
