Talk:Level Up! Games
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first half of this page appears to be blatant, street market style advertisment for the company Level Up! Games both in terms of language style and contents.
- Level Up! is proud to be the distributor of the country's first ever localized MMOGs where players can interact in dynamic worlds and virtual communities
- Pangya, from NTREEV SOFT CO., LTD. - Asia’s hottest online casual game of fantasy golf ...
- For years, Level Up! has been paving the way towards enriching the online gaming community.
- In a quest to give Pinoy gamers and fans a one of a kind online gaming experience, Level Up! continues to establish relationships with other game developers and bring in even more quality online entertainment in the Philippines.
This needs to be fixed quickly by somebody who actually knows (objective) details about who they are and what they do, though rewording the same things as those already mentioned in a more encyclopedia-compatible style already would help >_> --Blackhole89 16:50, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fixed All Sentences
I have edited the first few sentences. Someone should check them though. Ill get to the rest of the paragraphs later.
EDIT (12/4/06, 5:02 PM PST): All sentences revamped into neutrality. Someone check the whole article before removing the NPOV flag, though.

[edit] a few changes in the games list
it would be recommended that the games hosted by PLDT (ePLDT/netgames) be removed form the list of games until such that Level Up! and netGames merge. Otherwise, people would be confused.
note: PLDT is the telecommunications company. ePLDT is the company's ICT arm of the company (as said in their web site, [1]), who maintains netGames, the company's gaming site [2].

[edit] Criticism
I'm deleting "Criticism" bec. we need to be neutral here... Game problems must be report on a proper way, And added new game service, Perfect World & Silk Road Online the newest game release in the philippines...Zerwell 13:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
" im returning them back, reason is they are not game problems, they are issues that conflict the company that everyone should be aware of : anonymous" "
Seriously, this is one of the worst wiki pages ever. The criticism section should be removed entirely, if no one's gonna exert an effort to even do it properly. Whoever wrote the criticism section should never use an unbiased wiki.
"...there have been only 2 major updates on the game..."
Complain at the DEVELOPER, not the publisher if the game lacks content.
"In 2005 the Official Oz world forum was shutdown with the reason still a controversy, on that same year,..."
Explain the controversy. Heck, there's not even one statement in there that even makes a forum shutdown a "controversy".
"...an email was sent to all Level-up! employees stating that the company will be ending its Oz World game on early 2006, and also stated to refrain from informing the players but was later leaked and posted on Clyde Online Networks Oz Resource Website. Later that year, Level up! withdraw the statement and continued its oz world game."
Even if it's true, HOW is this a criticism? If the publisher decides to pull off a game, then it's THEIR choice. Add the fact that IT WAS WITHDRAWN makes this entire text irrelevant.
"Level up! Philippines bribed its oz world players to register in Hyper Relay in exchange for rare items."
It's called a marketing scheme to attract new players into Hyper Relay. Some of the games out there, whether browser-based or client-based, use such tactic. Yes, it is "bribing", but then again there's absolutely no negative aspect in this since ANYONE can register at HyperRelay and ANYONE can attain items. No one can be higher than the other since there is equal opportunity. This information is STUPID, if not irrelevant. Learn to differentiate what needs to be criticized rather than what to yak about.
"Philippine Ragnarok online, once the most known MMORPG in the country is now criticized as " worst MMORPG in the country " as hacking happens very often and 3rd party programs are widely used. Reports of some maps having more bots than active players."
This statement should be redone completely. First, pRO is not "once the most known MMORPG", because it IS STILL one of the most recognized MMORPG in the country. Second, "worst MMORPG in the country" is an opinion. Unless it is universally agreed in the Philippines, the "worst MMORPG in the country" statement is debatable at best. This is a biased opinion, not a fact. When I read an article, I want FACTS. Just because 20 people said it in a forum DOES NOT make it a fact.
"oz world has been totally dropped from priority and loyal players from this game are desperately demanding attention and support"
This seems like a criticism, however should be redone to actually MAKE it a criticism rather than a rant or complain to LU!
From ForYourEyesOnly:
"This statement should be redone completely. I think it'd be better for you to play in the game itself and see for yourself what is really happening. IMO, pRO is still, the most popular game followed by RF Online. But due to the enormous amount of 3rd party programs, wherein it's an estimated 60-75/80% of the population in the servers, plus the lack of competency and irresponsibility of LUG's cust care and GMs in-game, I must say that it is ONE OF THE WORST MMORPGs in the country. And btw, it's not just 20 people, you should've looked into guild forums, and even server forums for that matter and you'll see a good number of them. One of the reasons the game is still surviving probably is, WoE, where people would stop using 3rd party programs to manually fight enemies by the hundreds (especially in Agit Lords). But you know the other reason why it was also labeled as the worst? It's also because of the intense politics and scandals between players and staff. I believe I can name at least 2-4 well-known incidents.
So I'm sorry to say, but, I would rather ask you if you ARE under LUG, because it is more of a voice coming from someone under them.
Seriously, the criticism of the Philippine section is obviously done by a heavily biased teenage OZ World fanboy holding a grudge against Level Up! because they no longer support the game that much. Either fix the criticism or remove it entirely! Criticisms ARE NOT controversies.

- →i agree...as the article starter/maker (2006-06-11T16:29:41), i want to be neutral on the page...
- any complaints/game problems must be reported directly to the authority/company so all the problems would be fixed/cleared...
- sorry but we don't need the Criticism... I PUTTED THIS PAGE UP TO GIVE INFORMATION AND WHAT IS THE COMPANY IS ALL ABOUT, etc...
- NO COMPANY IS PERFECT!! DO NOT BE ON THE ONE-SIDE!! LOOK FOR THE REASON WHY THOSE THINGS WERE HAPPENED!! TRY TO MAKE YOUR OWN PERFECT COMPANY IF YOU CAN!! ^_^
- i'm going to review and edit the main page (on the other day(s) when i'm not too busy) ミゲル / miguel | Talk 17:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Regarding the PERFECT COMPANY dialogue, (oh btw,I'm not the one who made the Criticism part) the problem I am seeing here is more of the negative Filipino culture IN the company of LUG. But you look first if you are under LUG, it'd be better to investigate why your customer response time takes like hell and are very much incompetent in cases that are already so obvious yet are decided as "lacking evidence". So it's not one-sided, LUG is, even if it's the primary and dominating MMORPG publisher in the country, an incompetent company when you put it in the aspect of "Care".
- → ok,well..i didn't really erased that part on the article but i simply putted it on a comment state so kindly please make it more true in their eyes/more clearer for the public view/more convincing topic (the point is...more like to be an open-minded editor, give a perfect reason for both side or just like, you want to convert our minds to be on your side) anyway, i see that you added some references but i don't see any part of it that is neutral in both areas and please sign your identity with 4 "~" at the end, thank you - ミゲル / miguel | Talk 09:44, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't think that the coverage on the criticism segment of this area is fair at all, after all, when I read it, most of its content focused on the contreversies surrounding a single game it promotes, and not its' whole product line, or the company itself, ergo if the company's product were to be criticized, it would be more appropriate to place such criticism on the game's page itself, pointing out such supposed problems/issues with regards to service of that game in host country. [edit] Flash Games
India: Do you ever think that level up will showcases flash based games? Now it's here. smart kids! are you bored on doin nothing? free arcade games are here. free, easy, enjoyable and educational. well,it looks like level up! games has running down on resources and can't anymore licensed 3D MMORPG based games (jk),huh? some sort of shorting on your budget? lol anyway, playing flash games isn't boring at all and it's really fun and good. - ミゲル / miguel | Talk 14:55, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Here's the rub. Gaming in India isn't as developed because of the more frail infrastructure of internet connectivity in the country. Flash games on mobile phones and other less bandwidth intensive games are the best way to go, for remember that what Level Up is building in India is brand equity, which is questionable in an encyclopedic document.
