Levier is a French Commune situated in the département Doubs in the Arrondissement of Pontarlier, region of Franche-Comté. Levier is the chief town of the canton of Levier.
The commune is integrated to the Communauté de communes Altitude 800, from which Levier is the commune with the highest population.

The economy is based on forestry. As a matter of fact, the commune is covered densely by forests.
