Leven Thumps

Leven Thumps is a popular children's fantasy series by writer Obert Skye. The series, projected to have five books, deals with an orphaned 14-year old boy, Leven Thumps, who becomes involved in a battle between good and evil.^[1]^[2] The first four books in the series are titled Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo (2005),^[3] Leven Thumps and the Whispered Secret (2006),^[3] Leven Thumps and the Eyes of The Want (2007), and Leven Thumps and the Wrath of Ezra(not published yet). These books were originally published by Shadow Mountain Publishing,^[4] a division of Deseret Book. ^[5]

Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo won the Benjamin Franklin award from the Independent Book Publishers Association in 2006.^[6]

Movie At October 2006 the movie company Central Rose Entertainment optioned the rights of the series. ^[7]Currently the movie is in preproduction and is scheduled for a 2009 release. ^[8]

Plot Leven comes into the world horribly as if no one wanted to hear or see him. His mother's half-sister, Addy, takes him into her care, but doesn't feed him much and supplies him with only a Wonder Wipes raggy shirt from her current Wipes company. He soon befriends people such as Winter, a girl with a strange power, Clover, his loyal and brotherly sycophant, and the king of Foo, Geth, a toothpick. They travel around the entire Earth to Germany to France just to find the exact time and direction where they will be transported to Foo. While they are doing this, Sabine, the current ruler of Foo goes to the actual world to take over both Foo and Earth. Leven and the others fight off his shadows and then try to defeat Sabine once and for all.

Leven Thumps: A boy who can manipulate fate, or an offing. Leven embarks on a journey with threats and twists to defeat Sabine and his opposing shadows.

Winter: A girl possessing the power to control ice. She was born in foo, but switched at birth with another infant in order to help Leven with his quest later on. She lived with her "mother" Janet who did not care for her until she went with Leven to defeat Sabine.

Clover: Leven's sycophant. His pockets hold many things as sycophants favor in strange things. Clover also eats Foo candy occasionally that argue, but then apologize for not being tastier.

Geth: The late king of Foo. He is turned into a seed by Sabine and planted next to Leven's house by Antsel. Eventually he is cut down to the size of a toothpick and hangs around in everyone's pockets. He suggests Leven go to Foo and defeat Sabine to regain Geth's rule.

Sabine: An evil villain in Leven Thumps. He goes to Earth to rule both Foo and Earth. Like Winter, he is a nit who can control ice.

Jamoon: Sabine's elite warrior. He changes occasionally to the dreams of others and his appearance varies like all other rants.

Terry: Leven's "father". He is cruel and lazy. The only thing he likes is drinking.

Addy: Terry's wife and Leven's mother's step sister. She agreed to take care of him when his mother died after soon after his birth. She is cruel and cold towards him, but slightily better than Terry. Her house is smashed down by Winter, Clover, and Geth.

Hector Thumps: Leven's grandfather and the creator of the gateway bordering from Earth and Foo. His quest to go from Earth and Foo drove him crazy, but he was a very brilliant man. Everyone believes him to be dead. He married Amelia after returning to foo for the second time.
