Levan Varshalomidze

Levan Varshalomidze (born 17 January 1972, Batumi, Georgia) is a Georgian politician and the current Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajaria. He became a leader of this autonomous province in the southwestern Georgia following the ouster of a defiant ruler Aslan Abashidze in May 2004 (see Ajaria Crisis).
He is the son of Guram Varshalomidze, a Director General of the National Oil Company of Georgia, who had chaired the Council of Ministers of Adjara in the mid-1990s.
