My name is Lawrence Taylor, and I am a California DUI Lawyer. My friend David Prenatt led me to Wikipedia...

My particular area of interest/expertise is drunk driving litigation -- the law, the science (breath/blood alcohol analysis)and the constitutional ramifications. I am a graduate of the University of California (Berkeley) and UCLA School of Law, a former Deputy District Attorney (Los Angeles) and Fulbright Professor of Law (Japan), and the author of two books on DUI litigation, Drunk Driving Defense (NY: Aspen, 6th edition) and California Drunk Driving Defense (MN: West, 3rd edition). I have also written 10 other books, mostly law-related: Trail of the Fox (Simon and Schuster), The D.A. (William Morrow), Eyewitness Identification (Michie), To Honor and Obey (William Morrow), Handling Criminal Appeals (West), A Trial of Generals (Icarus), Witness Immunity (Thomas), Scientific Interrogation (Michie), Setting Sail (Icarus) and Born to Crime (Greenwood).

I have an 11-attorney law firm which limits its practice to DUI defense exclusively. The firm is "A-V" rated ("very high to preeminent") by the Martindale-Hubbell International Law Directory, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, San Diego, Riversideand Las Vegas, Nevada.

I look forward to contributing articles on the science involved in blood, breath and urine analysis, as well as on police evidence and procedures such as horizontal gaze nystagmus (used in field sobriety testing). I am also very interested in and concerned with the growing "DUI exception to the Constitution". In keeping with these interests, I maintain a blog site entitled DUIblog.

For those interested in DUI from the perspective of one who has been arrested for that offense, I would recommend visiting two excellent websites: California DUI: A Drunk Driving Law Guide, which is directed at California but is generally applicable to most jurisdictions, as well as the National College for DUI Defense, an organization of over 800 drunk driving defense attorneys across the country (of which I was a founder and former Dean).
