Let My Love Open the Door
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Let My Love Open the Door" is a song written and performed by Pete Townshend. The single is taken from his 1980 album Empty Glass and reached the top ten in that same year, reaching number nine.
The song has been used frequently in film, including being the end credit song for Jersey Girl and Along Came Polly, both from 2004. It also was featured in the following films:
- Dan in Real Life (2007)
- Evan Almighty (2007)
- Click (in trailers) (2006)
- Mr. Deeds (2002)
- Vanilla Sky (2001)
- Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)
- Look Who's Talking (1989)
A cover of this song was recorded by the Christian rock-pop band Audio Adrenaline, with the interpretation of "my love" referring to God's love. This may be consistent with the composer's intent: In the liner notes of Townshend's Gold (Remaster) CD, he refers to this song as "Jesus sings." It was also covered by Pearl Jam and M. Ward.
Steve Carell and Dane Cook are credited with a cover version featured in the 2007 film Dan in Real Life[1]. This version was arranged by Sondre Lerche, who also recorded a cover for the soundtrack of the film.
It was also once covered by The Who.
