"Let Me Be Yours" is the name of a 1988 hit single by British pop group Five Star. Released in November of that year as their intended Christmas single, the track entered the UK charts at #51 but failed to go any higher. "Let Me Be Yours" seemed to be liked by both the fans and critics, as it was the group's first ballad since "Strong As Steel" a year earlier. They tried to return to the simple pop formula that made them famous, but many fans had not forgiven them for the leather clad look of the previous singles, "There's A Brand New World", "Rock My World" and "Another Weekend".
The video consisted of all five members of the band cleverly changing into one another to prepare for a night out. The song was mainly released to compete with Cliff Richard's "Mistletoe and Wine", and Bros's double A-side "Cat Among The Pigeons/Silent Night". "Let Me Be Yours" became Five Star's second single so far to miss the Top 40, after a three year run of Top 20 hits. It also became the fourth and final release from their Top 20 album Rock The World, which peaked at #17 in August 1988.
Queen Elizabeth II met Five Star at the Royal Variety Performance in December 1988, where she commented on the song, saying it was probably one of their best harmonies so far. Cliff Richard and Bros themselves (who hit #1 and #2 respectively with their Christmas singles) commented on "Let Me Be Yours", saying that they were surprised that such a 'beautiful ballad' wasn't a hit over the festive period.
