"Let It Die" is the fourth single from Foo Fighters' Grammy-award winning album, Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace. It was originally going to be the third single from the album, according to Dave Grohl on a Dutch radio station. It has already been gaining radioplay in Canada, and was placed on Radio and Records' Canadian Rock Chart, placing it at #4. It has entered the Modern Rock Tracks chart in April 2008, reaching #3 thus far. It already charted #60 in Canadian Hot 100 and in Mainstream Rock Tracks where it peaks at #13. The single gave the Foo Fighters three songs in the Modern Rock Tracks' Top 20 simultaneously, making them one of four acts to ever accomplish that feat.
The date for its release is yet to be set, but the artwork from the single has appeared on the Internet confirming its future release. Having been released simultaneously with the third single "Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up Is Running)," "Let It Die" will only be released in North America (since its predecessor was only released in Europe). This probably indicates it will be released in CD format, as the first two singles from the same album were.
The music video for the song will be directed by Martin Fougerol in the band's "off time" between the Australian tour and the European festivals.
In addition to the regular band lineup, "Let It Die" also features former Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear.
