The Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) is an English-language school board in the province of Quebec, the largest[4] of the nine English school boards in the province. The LBPSB is responsible for English public schools in the western part of the island of Montreal, Ile Perrot and "mainland" territories stretching west to the border of Ontario province. It is named after Lester B. Pearson, Canada's 14th Prime Minister.
Bob Mills is currently the Director General of the school board and the Chairman of the Council of Commissioners is Marcus Tabachnick.
The Lester B. Pearson School Board is the only school board in Canada to have an official consultative group of students to its executives. The group, entitled the 'Central Students' Committee' (CSC for short) produces formal responses to the consultations proposed by the Council of Commissioners.
For 4 years the LBPSB has produced a large cabaret-style variety show called 'TOPS'; an acronym for "Truly Outstanding Pearson Shows". The large-budget production has entertained audiences faithfully while showcasing the most talented students from the Greater Montreal area all the way to the Ontario border. In recent years the show has attracted a lot of positive attention from the press, recognizing its production quality and the incredible Broadway numbers, bands and dancers who perform each year. A professionally filmed DVD of the show is released each year; often purchased as memorabilia by ex-performers. The future of the TOPS Show is uncertain. The show has grown substantially every year in every aspect, however the number of volunteers who produce the show and dedicate hundreds of hours of their time has remained constant, making it increasingly difficult to organize a stage-show of such impressive proportions.
