Les Jolies Eaux

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Les Jolies Eaux is a former private royal residence on a headland on the 1,250 acre island of Mustique, St Vincent. The name means "Beautiful Waters" (the house was formerly called "Gelliceux"). The island belonged to Colin Tennant, 3rd Baron Glenconner before being taken over by a board of subsequent business partners, now under the name The Mustique Company. The Island has two harbours, eight beaches, three villages and about 500 people.

It was a wedding present to Princess Margaret in 1959 from Lord Glenconner.

The main house is neo-Georgian-style, designed by Sir Oliver Messel. It has an open plan, and 5 bedrooms, and a drawing room. It was completed in 1972. There are also two lodges, and 9 acres of land. The house was presented to Viscount Linley in 1996 as a wedding present. He subsequently placed it on the market. Like most of the villas on Mustique it is now available for weekly lets.
