[edit] Actresses
Shouldn't this page be called "lesbian actresses"?
- a person who acts is an actor, actress is simply a pc term
- Yes, but a lesbian by definition is a woman, so you really don't need a gender neutral title.
- An actor can be male or female.
- It just sounds silly, imho.Nkm 13:58, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ellen Degeneres
Why is Ellen in the "gay actor" cat instead of lesbian actor? Has she never identified as lesbian? --JamesB3 08:07, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Why does someone keep removing the names of Liz Smith and Patricia Routledge
They are both lesbians according to their own Wikipages??? 70.19.82.80 17:44, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Because no one can find any information supporting that she is a lesbian. For all we know, it's just a rumor.
[edit] Actresses again
If they're women, they're actresses, i don't say that, English grammar, mmm, maybe Gaudio 19:59, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Actress is correct; it has nothing to do with political correctness, it is the English language. Period. (unsigned comment)
This seems to be a contentious issue. The term actor is gender neutral and, in particular with this word, refers to an action that should be devoid of gender (acting). The word ends in 'or', not 'er' and if you consider the myriad of other words ending in or you will find there is no 'ress' equivalent.
e.g.
Doctor Director Supervisor Creator Instructor Constructor
etc
I wonder if it is a feminist thing? I'm not sure.

[edit] Sandy Dennis
Why is Sandy Dennis listed? There is no info given whatsoever on her page that she was gay. (unsigned comment)

[edit] Categorizing by sexual orientation
Categorizing by sexual orientation is non-encyclopedic and should not be done at all. The only time a person's sexuality should be mentioned is when it is a fundamental element of their contribution or professional activities. Otherwise it's often inaccurate, rumor, innuendo or serves only to titilate or serve an agenda. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.5.177.22 (talk) 15:37, 6 April 2007 (UTC).
[edit] How can I add Nancy Kulp to this page? Stachman 22:41, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't see the edit feature.
