[edit] Summary

A picture of the farmhouse at Le Paradis where members of the Royal Norfolk Regiment surrendered in May 1940 to members of the SS-Totenkopf. They were later massacred with machine-guns by the German forces.

This image was taken from here (although it can also be found here) and given that it is very likely to have been produced between 1900 and 1940; it is very likely to be in the public domain. As I am unable to discover any other source information than the subject, I am consequently using it here under fair use rationale until the image's provenance can be established. At the moment it is solely intended for use in the article Le Paradis Massacre.

Fair Use Rationale

  • 1. There is no free-equivalent. I have searched for a free image of this building with clear copyright information and have so far been unable to find one. No new picture can be created, due the building being destroyed. No other pictures of the farmhouse are available, on any internet search or in any book I have researched as far as I know.
  • 2 The use of this image on Wikipedia does not disrupt anybody's commercial usage of the image.
  • 3 It is of low resolution.
  • 4 It has been published outside Wikipedia.
  • 5 It is used to illustrate the event in question.
  • 6 It conforms to all other guidelines.
