This is a new attempt to move this page to Leopoldina (disambiguation) and rename the article German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina to Leopoldina for the following reasons:
- The Leopoldina was declared the national academy of Germany in 2007 as a counterpart to other national academies of sciences such as the United Kingdom's Royal Society and is therefore an institution of great academic prestige
- founded it 1652 it is one of the oldest of such institutions in the world
- it is not restricted to Germany, but accepts members from all German-speaking countries, that is Germany, Austria, Switzerland etc.
- the name "Leopoldina" is the short name of the Academy and is also used in the German and the French wikipedia
- the other article is not "lost" but rather moved to "Leopoldina (disambiguation)", so no content will be lost or dramatically harder to find
- google-counters, please bear in mind: it may not be the most frequent use of "Leopoldina" on google as of now, because it has only been declared the "national academy" of Germany in 2007 and the official opening is this year

[edit] Vote
- Oppose Then this is premature. Being primary usage is not a mark of honor; it acknowledges that almost all English-speakers will in fact want this article. Let the eminence wear in a little. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 15:52, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. As has been discussed at Talk:German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the German academy is not now the primary meaning of Leopoldina. As for the future, we don't know if being designated a national academy will make the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina more famous. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. - So, what is now the primary meaning of Leopoldina? -- Matthead Discuß 01:48, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't have a primary meaning. That's why the dab page is here. Spacepotato (talk) 05:01, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support. According to Google, most English language hits are for the Academy, and not only for the Academy proper, but also for many scientific conferences ([1]), publications, scholarships and awards related to the Academy. -- Matthead Discuß 01:48, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support -- obviously, I support the move and for (in my view) good reasons (see above). -- Axt (talk) 19:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
