Leopoldo Miguez

Leopoldo Miguez (born September 9, 1850 in Niterói; died July 6, 1902 in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian composer. He studied at conservatories in Paris and was known as a champion of the music of Richard Wagner. He also directed the "Instituto Nacional de Musica."[1] Furthermore he did the music for Brazil's Hymn for the Proclamation of the Republic.[2]
