Leopold II, Prince of Lippe

Leopold II, Prince of Lippe (6 November 1796-1 January 1851) was a Prince of Lippe.
He was born in Detmold the eldest child of Leopold I, Prince of Lippe and Princess Pauline of Anhalt-Bernburg (1769-1820).
He succeeded on his fathers death on the 4 April 1802, but due to his minority his mother Princess Pauline acted as regent for him until he was able to assume control of the government in 1820. In the last years of his reign the revolutions of 1848 took place across all of Germany. Leopold died on the 1 January 1851 and was succeeded by his eldest son Leopold.
Prince Leopold was married in Arnstadt on the 23 April 1820 to Princess Emilie of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1800-1867). They had nine children.
