Leonora of Castile

Eleanor of Castile was a regular name of infantas of Castile, namesakes of Queen Leonora and her mother, Alienor of Aquitaine, the first Eleanor ever. Besides daughters died young and minor relatives, there have been:

• Leonor or Eleanor of Castile (1202-1244), queen consort of Aragon: youngest daughter of Alfonso VIII of Castile and Leonora of England; wife of James I of Aragon divorced

• Eleanor of Castile (1241-90), queen consort of England, countess of Ponthieu in her own right, daughter of Ferdinand III (and thus great-granddaughter of Leonora of England), first wife of Edward I of England

• Leonora or Eleanor of Castile (131x-1359), queen consort of Aragon: daughter of Ferdinand IV of Castile; second wife of Alfonso IV of Aragon

• Leonora or Eleanor of Castile (d. 1416), queen consort of Navarre: daughter of Henry II of Castile; wife of Charles III of Navarre; mother of Blanche of Navarre

• Eleanor of Habsburg or Leonora of Castile or Leonora of Spain, daughter of Joanna I of Castile and Philip the Handsome of Austria-Burgundy, wife of Manuel I of Portugal and Francois I of France.

Additionally, two Queen Consorts of Castile and Leon bore the name:

• Leonora of England, wife of Alfonso VIII, who brought the name into the Castilian Royal Dynasty

• Leonora of Aragon, wife of John I of Castile, daughter of Pedro IV of Aragon and Eleanor of Sicily
