Leonids Tambijevs

Leonīds Tambijevs (born September 26, 1970 in Riga, Latvian SSR, Soviet Union) is a professional ice hockey player, left winger.

Has started his career in Dinamo Riga youth team. At junior age played in several Latvia teams. In RASMS-Energo debuted at USSR Tier III level but soon joined Leningrad SKA and debuted in season 1990/1991 at USSR best level. Then returned to Riga where had played till 1995 at ex-USSR league premier level in teams Riga-Stars and HK Pardaugava.

Soon after disband of Riga premier team in 1995 came abroad and played Denmark team Hvidovre IK. At career high point played in Finnish SM-liiga at Rauma Lukko. After that he played else in Germany, Denmark, Russia, Switzerland and finally last season at Italy.

Leonids is most experienced player at Latvian national ice hockey team. He made debut at first official renewed national teams' game at 1992 and played at every world championship, Olympic qualifications and Olympic Games for Latvia team till 2007. At 13th April 2007 in Latvia game against Finland together with Aleksandrs Semjonovs was first two players to reach 200th game in Latvia national team. Has played most games in national team and scored most points.
