Leonardo Daniel Ponzio (born January 29, 1982 in Las Rosas) is an Argentine football Midfielder currently playing for River Plate in Argentina.
He started his career playing in the youth system at Newell's Old Boys in Rosario, Argentina. He was signed by Spanish side Real Zaragoza in 2003, and was transferred to River Plate on 16 February 2007. Ponzio scored his first goal for River Plate vs. Chilean side Colo-Colo, for the Copa Libertadores 2007.
Ponzio has played for Argentina under-17, Under-20 and at full international level. He was part of the Argentina under-20 team that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2001.
He also holds an Italian passport.
