Leonardo Domenici

Leonardo Domenici (born July 12, 1955) is an Italian politician. He has been the Mayor of Florence since June 13, 1999.
Domenici was born in Florence, from where he graduated in moral philosophy. He began his political career in 1976 in the PCI (Italian Communist Party), later becoming the Secretary of the Florentine branch of the Federation of the Democratic Party of the Left.
Domenici was elected in 1994 for the first time a member of the Italian Parliament for the Chianti-Valdarno constituency and re-elected as a candidate of the Ulivo coalition in 1996.
He is currently married with one daughter, Barbara.
In February 2008, Domenici and one of the city assessors of Florence announced intentions to launch a suit against the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia.[1]
