Leon's Frozen Custard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Leon's Frozen Custard is a classic 1950s-style family owned drive-in, specializing in frozen custard, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It opened in 1942. It was the inspiration for the original Arnold's Drive-In from the television sitcom Happy Days. [1] [2] [3]
Leon's is considered a landmark in the city of Milwaukee. They have been a family owned business for over 60 years. It claims to be the "Home of the World's Finest Frozen Custard". Leon's has won Milwaukee Magazine's "Best Of" category for several years. Leon's offers the two "regular" flavors of vanilla and chocolate and typically alternates two daily flavors that are occasionally announced during summertime traffic reports on Milwaukee radio stations. They tend to keep all flavors in pint or quart-sized containers available for sale.
Leon's offers no indoor seating. Customers line up in front of three outside windows in busy times. The fresh custard machines are visible in the background and are often churning.
Leon's custard is a popular treat year-round and has many dedicated customers: more than 20 people waited patiently in line outside the stand on February 23, 2008. Temperature: 23 breezy degrees.
Although known primarily for their custard, Leon's also offers a menu of typical Americana fare including burgers, fries and tacos.
There is also a Leon's Frozen Custard located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, but it is unrelated to the Leon's in Milwaukee.

The Leon's in Milwaukee and the Leon's in Oshkosh were once related, as they were owned by brothers. However, now the owners are unrelated.
