Leo van Vliet

Leonardus ("Leo") Quirinus Machutus van Vliet (born November 15, 1955 in Honselersdijk, Zuid-Holland) is a retired road bicycle racer from the Netherlands, who was a professional rider from 1978 to 1986. He represented his native country in the men's individual road race at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada, where he finished in 40th place.

Van Vliet's biggest success was winning the 1983 edition of Gent-Wevelgem. He also won the second stage of the 1979 Tour de France. After his career he became the director of Holland's only cycling classic, the Amstel Gold Race. He is not related to another Dutch cyclist of the 1980s, Teun van Vliet.
