Leo Loeb

Leo Loeb (1869-1959), was an American professor and pathologist. His early research focused on tissue transplantation and tumor growth. He perhaps best known as the founder of experimental cancer research. He received his medical degree from the University of Zürich in 1896, working at University of Illinois, McGill University and Princeton University. He joined the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis in 1915 were he remained till his death. He served as president of the American Cancer Society in 1911.
