Leo John was a member of the Schutzstaffel during World War II and served as the Deputy Commander of the Labor Camp at Płaszów. His commander was Amon Göth. Both men were immortalized in the film Schindler's List, however John was portrayed more as a cold administrator in comparison to Goeth who was depicted as a vicious killer.
