[edit] Station
The train station was actually built for people from Kirkintilloch, and they don't have one of their own This isn't quite true: Kirkintilloch had a station, on the Campsie branch, which joined the mainline east of Lenzie station, at Campsie Junction. It opened roughly 8 years after the mainline station.
[edit] Etymology of Lenzie
Can someone stop trying to suggest Lenzie is gaelic. I've not seen one iota of evidence to support this apart from a bit of overactive imagination. The earliest form is lingie and variants of that spelling which suggest an old scots origin not gaelic. Bugsy 19:27, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
