Lennox Mohammed

Lennox "Bobby" Mohammed revolutionised the way that the steelpan was played in competition. As arranger for the relatively unknown Guinness Cavaliers, he brought this San Fernando-based band to the Panorama finals in 1964 and placed third. The Guinness Cavaliers made an indelible impression of the country with their unique style. The following year they won, the first band from South Trinidad to win the competition. They won Panorama again in 1967 but later went into decline. After leaving the field, Mohammed returned to arranging for steelbands in the 1990s, but with only modest success.
