- Sorry! I thought you were trying to completely blank the New Found Glory article; I didn't realize you were doing a re-write! Feel free to revert me - kindly use edit summaries next time, though, so I don't screw up again! --King of the Wontons | lol wut? | Oh noes! Vandals! 19:01, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Automatic images
The images you are adding to the article The Automatic are not acceptable here for a variety of reasons. They are copyrighted and not free to use. Just because they are on the internet does not mean they are for "publc use." Note the "All content copyright © 2007 The Automatic." on the bottom of the gallery page. Copyrighted images are not free; Wikipedia is supposed to be the free encyclopedia. When only a small quantity of copyrighted images are used in an article and no free alternative exists, they may be allowed on Wikipedia based on fair use. However, we have a free image for The Automatic, Image:The automatic pop awards 05 bnb.jpg, released on a Creative Commons license. Therefore, there should be no fair use images on the article (except possibly for the logo). If you continue to violate Wikipedia's non free content rules and replace free images with copyrighted ones, you may be blocked for disruption. Mr.Z-man 14:58, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- "they have all been released for public use by the band" - Publicly available is not the same as public domain. The images are copyrighted. Please see WP:NFCC. Fair use images should not be used in articles if a free alternative exists and when they are used they should be used in small amounts when necessary - 1 or 2 at most. "Why would there be an option on wikipedia to upload images if they didn't want people to" - Because we want people to upload free images and copyrighted fair use when necessary. "go through articles removing images your ultimately just adding to how bad wikipedia is coming " - No, I'm trying to keep Wikipedia free. If we wanted to use lots of copyrighted images, we could charge a subscription fee and put in ads so we could pay the copyright holders, but that wouldn't be very good. [edit] Video clips
Instructions on converting video into a wikipedia-acceptable format can be found here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Converting_video and I'll caution you that before you go through the effort, make sure you understand the licensing details (i.e. only bother converting videos for which you own the copyright, or they'll get nix'd some fast, eh?). Cheers, WilyD 18:31, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, well - I'd hate to see you waste a bunch of time on something unproductive. In the case of The Automatic, it's unclear to me whether the articles are simply the result of fan interest or also partially the result of active attempts at publicity by the band - if it's the later case, you might be able to talk them into licensing some of their content. If you're interested in trying, I can try to guide you through how to do that. Cheers, WilyD 20:15, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thatboythatgirlart.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Thatboythatgirlart.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:14, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Boosh.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Boosh.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --22:00, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
