[edit] Oscar

The film won an Oscar, but I can't remember whether it was for make-up or art. If you know, please add to article. Smurrayinchester 14:01, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

I'm going to take out that a promotion site is being made, because i read that it has been delayed or something. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.167.58.37 (talkcontribs) 15:38, July 16, 2006.

I think it was nominated for Best Music Score.--Orthologist 17:26, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

The article needs to be cleaned up based on what is found in the style guidelines here. Cbrown1023 21:31, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hurricane

The article says that a hurricane destroyed Aunt Josephine's house. Is that supported by the book? Do the filmmakers not know what a hurricane is? I've never heard of a hurricane with high winds, no rain, and lasting five minutes. Shivan Bird 00:20, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, the book mentions that Aunt Josephine's house was blown away by Hurricane Herman. It is true thathurricanes occur near large bodies of water, which is stated in the book when Klaus remarks that "hurricanes occur near the ocean", with the taxi driver replying that, as Lake Lachrymose was such an enormous body of water, it "could have anything occured on it". After all, the book itself is quite absurd, so such a small account of scientific inconsistency is tolerable.--Orthologist 22:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes! Part of the book's charm was that it did not follow natural science at all, and the movie was well enough done that included Hurricane Herman Thedrtaylor 02:38, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

You people are not very bright at all. Strong winds coming from the sea. Get over it.

[edit] Took out the petition

The petition stuff isn't encyclopedic... just promotion of a website petition drive. Took it out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.210.107.101 (talk) 00:53, 9 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Olaf being obnoxious

Would you really say he was obnoxious? He was really more like murderous. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thedrtaylor (talk • contribs) 02:34, 16 February 2007 (UTC).

Yes, obnoxious is a gross understatement.--Orthologist 17:27, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Harry Potter? Harry Potter???

I changed the trivia entry

to

Why this is even worthy of a trivia snippet is beyond me though. I suggest removal of this info. -- 130.237.89.116 16:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I think that he was mistaken for john cleese. he played nearly headless nick.

[edit] ummm...

why was the differances from the book section taken away? yes, there is a comparison to the source section, but that leaves out the rest of the things that were in the other section. so, i think we should put it back... Sophiakorichi 01:35, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pronunciation

The film seems to have confused Baudelaire (Bodlair) for "Beau de Lair" and pronounced it thusly. :( —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.72.21.221 (talk) 23:55, August 23, 2007 (UTC)

it's pronounced Boe De Lair —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.96.200 (talk) 12:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Incorrect Quote?

  • Snicket discourages this in saying that "If you want to see a movie about a happy, little elf, then please exit the theater or turn off the VCR or DVD."

In the version I saw, he says 'then there's still plenty of seating in Theatre 2.' Is this a different version, or is the above simply misquoted? 172.206.45.234 (talk) 19:05, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sequel

At a book signing in Naperville, IL, Mr. Handler mentioned a sequel was in the works. PurpleSquerkle 17:01, 10 April 2008

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Lemony snickets a series of unfortunate events poster.jpg

Image:Lemony snickets a series of unfortunate events poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
