Hi I'm Greg. I'm 25, a complete goofball, I rarely drink, and I don't smoke or do any drugs. I am originaly from Waterford, Connecticut which is a small town in Connecticut, one of the 6 states in the New England region of the United States of America. Currently I live in Manhattan, which is one of the five boroughs of New York City, New York. I'm not entirely sure which neighborhood I live in though as it would appear they overlap a lot, so I would have to guess that I live either in Upper Manhattan in either the Upper West Side, Manhattanville, Morningside Heights. Personally, I opt for Manhattanville.
I am a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employes, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada, or IATSE for short, Local 109 which covers Eastern Fairfield County. I work as a stagehand for various concerts, plays, and events between Boston, Massachusetts and New Jersey. From January to March of 2006, I was on tour with a play called Tuesdays With Morrie as the Assistant Electrician. After a 3 day prep and 3 days of tech, the show played in seven cities over the course of eight weeks. Prior to this, I have worked on several pre-broadway runs of shows and several new musicals as either an electrician, an A1, an A2, or a carpenter.
[edit] Current Job
Currently, I am freelancing for any theater, concert venue, movie, or anyone that will hire me. In August I will be the swing automation carpenter for The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.
[edit] Previous Job
From November of 2006 until May of 2007, I was the Head Electrician at Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, CT. I have no idea what that means other than that I was programming their console as they have an in-house Master Electrician which does all the tasks of the head.
[edit] Wikipedia and I
I have been browsing wikipedia for several years and recently after reading articles on stagecraft that were incomplete, incorrect, redundandt, or full of, for lack of a better word, crap, I created the Stagecraft Project on September 5th, 2006. Within one week of creating this project, six other Wikipedians had joined and we are off trying our best to make these articles more complete, coherent, and correct so that the general public can learn from them.
I have also created two userboxes the {{User:EVula/Userboxes/stagehand}} and the {{User:Lekogm/Userbox/IATSE}} userboxes. Both of which can be found on this page.
