Leisure Studies is a branch of the social sciences and academic major that focuses on understanding and analyzing leisure. Tourism, Outdoor Recreation (Parks), and Healthy Leisure Practices are common topics of leisure research. The National Recreation and Park Association is the national organization for leisure studies, and offers accredidation to many Universities. The Journal of Leisure Research and Journal of Park and Recreation Administration are scholarly academic journals of Leisure Studies.
In the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, the title character receives his Bachelor's Degree in Leisure Studies.
