Leisure Arts is a leading publisher and distributor of “how-to” and lifestyle publications with emphasis on creative crafts, needlework, decorating, and entertaining. Established in 1971 in Libertyville, Illinois, Leisure Arts relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1975. In 1992, the company was acquired by Time Warner Time Warner. Leisure Arts became a Liberty Media owned company in May, 2007.

Publications which teach how to knit and how to crochet are sold to individuals through their website and to sewing and craft stores for retail purchase. Pattern books on many other topics including scrapbooking, quilting, counted cross stitch, beading, painting, sewing, and home decorating are included in their wide range of do-in-yourself publications. Holidays and celebration publications are consumer favorites.

The Leisure Arts book range covers a variety of DIY craft and needlework skills. New titles are introduced on a regular basis, addressing both basic, long standing categories and new trends. An in-house team of designers and editors develops multiple titles each year. They also create publications with other leading publishers, licensed partners, and manufacturers to provide timely inspiration for the creative consumer.

Their publications support industry craft products as well as their own unique product offerings such as albums, papers, stamps, and fashion accessories. One such product line offered by Leisure Arts is Exclusively You.

Exclusively You is a unique line of stylish elements for creating handbags and other fashionable accessories. The product line includes faux leather purse handles and panels in a variety of colors and textures, ready-to-wear embellishments, hardware & findings, canvas totes, and “how-to” publications.

In addition to publications, the Leisure Arts product line also includes DVDs and web-cast productions designed for teaching and entertaining.

Such DVD titles and webcasts (also available through iTunes as podcasts) make learning easier than ever. Experienced instructors and authors, such as Melissa Leapman and Catherine Miller Scott, take the viewer through the “motions.” Beginners gain confidence with personal guidance and the highest quality of filming. Features such as an A to Z index, auto pause and stitch-along instructions make it easy for beginners to learn at their own pace. Experienced stitchers can brush-up on basic skills and enjoy entertaining features from those who share their passion of crafting.

Leisure Arts’ DVD assortment includes Christopher Lowell, leading home decorating expert, accomplished author, designer, and TV host, who shares the foundation and encouragement that shows consumers they “can do it.”
