The Leipzig Marathon is an annual marathon race over the classic distance of 42km and 195 metres held in the city of Leipzig, Germany. It is an annual race since 1977. The event, in the early years mainly just for athletes from East Germany, was transferred in 2000 from June to April. Four editions (1985, 1986, 1987, and 1990) also counted as the GDR National Championsgips.
