Deutsche Bahn - Stations in Germany | |
The Bayerischer Bahnhof in Leipzig is Germany's oldest preserved railway station. It was built in 1842 for the Leipzig-Altenburg line of the Sächsisch-Bayerische Staats-Eisenbahn. The station was closed in 2001 for the construction of the Leipzig city tunnel. It is expected to re-open in 2012 after the completion of the tunnel, and will then be connected to the Leipzig S-Bahn system.
