Leinster Sports Club was founded in 1852, originally as a cricket club from where it gets its official name. The Dublin sports club hosts tennis, squash, table tennis, bowls and cricket. The Leinster Sports Club complex is situated in the Observatory Lane ground, in the heart of Rathmines.
The cricket section currently has seven men's teams, three women's sides and fifteen youth sides.
In 1875 Ireland's rugby union team played their first home game at the cricket ground as Lansdowne Road was deemed unsuitable.
