[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:10th of foot logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:10th of foot logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:28, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Not heard to the contrary so I guess it's okay to take it over. Good luck, --ROGER DAVIES talk 23:58, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rating query

Hi you just rated Battle of Mont St Quentin as

  • Referencing and citation: criterion not met
  • Coverage and accuracy: criterion not met

I would appreciate advice as to what gaps you thought there were. Regards --Matilda talk 05:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I went ahead and gave it a B, it's relatively short tho, so the argument could be made that there is more that could be covered :) LegoTech·(t)·(c) 05:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Hi thanks for re-reviewing - it wasn't so much the rating I was seeking as whether you thought something was missing. I appreciate brevity is an issue and therefore there may be depth missing - I will revisit at some stage. Regards--Matilda talk 07:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] D Tools

Hello, My article for d-tools was fladded and I was wondering why. I used AutoCAD company entry format as a reference so I am wondering why their entry is allowed and mine isnt? Can you tell me ways to improve this? thanks! Jillems (talk) 23:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

haha yeah, thanks but d-tools has been around for 10 years(founded in 1998) and although it is a niche market, it is the industry leader within that market and has won many significant awards for their achievments. In addition, AutoCAD is one of their partners and a significant component of it's product. So I dont think its necessarily a "poor" comparison. Jillems (talk) 23:36, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

OK, thank you so much! I will do that. Appreciate the feedback! how long do I typically have to add some more notable references etc before deletion? Thanks again! Jillems (talk) 23:57, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] JWR

Article dropped off at User:Legotech/SandboxRawlesArticle. Please keep the note at the top attached if you move it around. Deiz talk 13:33, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Here is another reference for that article for you: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/04/28/2228908.htm

(The Australian radio interview (and web article) that Rawles mentioned in his blog yesterday.) Thanks again for your efforts! Cheers, -- Jeff Trasel (talk) 02:43, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

---

The consensus now seems to be that Jim Rawles is notable. The considerably revamped article now has 53 references, only a few of which point to his web site, and even those meet the test of WP:SELFPUB. All of the rest of the references are verifiable, third party, and in large proportion from reliable hard copy publications. So, can the article's Notability and Self-published flags now be dropped? (I'd prefer that you do so, since I promised to do nothing but add references and annotate/clarify text pointing to those references.) Thanks. And, BTW, thanks again for your input. -- Trasel (talk) 22:41, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestion about the name you say you like...

I was browsing ANI and came across the Sock farm conversation. If you really like the user name "This name is a stub. You can help by expanding it" you could always try usurping it or creating it with the ending period to make it a bit more grammatically correct. If you weren't serious, no big deal, but it is just a thought. Have a nice day. :) - LA @ 06:02, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] albums

Albums may not be deleted by speedy, only WP:PROD or WP:CSD, so As reviewing administrator, I changed your speedy to a Prod. DGG (talk) 22:01, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

umm, WP:CSD *is* speedy, Criteria for Speedy Deletion. But I went and reread the criteria and see that you are correct, A7 is not for albums...got it...thanks :) LegoTech·(t)·(c) 22:22, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ucalegon

I made the redirect to wiktionary because wiktionary actually had more information on it. Feel free to expand the redirect into a stub article! --evrik (talk) 20:38, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Multiple AfDs

Hey there. I notice you've recently nominated lots of Gob songs and album articles for deletion, using the same deletion rationale for each. In future, consider nominating groups of related articles with similar rationales together - see WP:BUNDLE. Thanks, —97198 talk 05:15, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

No worries! I tried using Twinkle once but it didn't seem to agree with me ;) —97198 talk 05:22, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
In the future, please actually read WP:Music and read to see if an article actualy passes it or not before tagging an AFD on it. the Majority of the GOB albums you tagged are by a notable band released on a notable label. Why did you do that? do you not like GOB? If so, please don't take it out on there wikipedia articles. [The Spooky One] | [t c r] 20:56, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

The albums should still have WP:RS and not just a track listing. The albums may have been an error, but the songs were not and had you not WP:OWNed the articles and actually read WP:Music regarding individual song tracks, I wouldn't have had to take any of it to AfD. Instead, you removed the Prod and I had no choice but to take all of the ones that fail WP:Music to AfD (there were some that had enough reason to have their own article, I left those be). If I come across other bands that have every song listed, I'll list those that belong gone at AfD as well. Nothing against your band. If you don't like the policy, work to change it, otherwise, work within it. LegoTech·(t)·(c) 22:08, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

First off, GOB isn't 'my band' as you put earlier. I simply happen to be a fan of them. Secondly, i never WP:OWNed any of the articles, i simply created them. You must have me confused with another editor. You shouldn't punish Wikipedia. Please re-read WP:Music and make sure you read every little detail before nominating an album for an AfD again. - -[The Spooky One] | [t c r] 02:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Please settle down. I have in fact read WP:Music and it states that songs do not get their own articles:

per WP:Music Most songs do not merit an article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for a prominent album or for the artist who wrote or prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. A separate article is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album.

So while you claim you are not WP:OWNing the articles, you are posting nasty comments all over the AfDs and continually coming to my talk page. If you do not like WP:Music, work to change it, but don't punish me for the policy. LegoTech·(t)·(c) 02:28, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

i'm not WP:OWNing the articles, it's not like i'm saying "NO, you may NOT edit the article. I created it and it's mine!". I'm open to changes. i removed the prod because i beleived that they were not necassary and the prod tag itself says that if you disagree with the prod, then remove it. I think we should both cool down a bit.. - -[The Spooky One] | [t c r] 03:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] You seem to have made an error

You seem to have submitted an article of mine for speedy deletion, but the reason you gave "no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent" is patently false. Please explain yourself. Did you perhaps make a mistake? --Ceriel Nosforit (talk) 10:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] South East Asian Peninsula Game

Sorry. You said my contributions were inconstructive to wikipedia. I was just adding language links to Khmer wikipedia. Do you think it is vandalism? Please reconsider your judgment on my action. Thank you.--គីមស៊្រុន (talk) 06:09, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I checked these all out. He is doing exactly that, just interwiki work for the Khmer wikipedia. Perhaps you should apologize to him. This isn't even vandalism in any way... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 06:15, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I am sorry....the recent change in allowing non western languages in the usernames caused this...the username looks like nothing more than question marks since I don't have the correct font. LegoTech·(t)·(c) 06:19, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, it looked all like squares to me... But I thought it was worth checking the links he was adding. Its valid work. You should perhaps apologize on his talk page, and remove the warnings. I have rolled back your edits already, since these were all valid inter-wiki links and belonged in the article. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 06:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for cleaning up behind me! I was leaving him a message on his talk page at the same time you were suggesting :) Thanks again for your help! LegoTech·(t)·(c) 06:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Room 8

Updated DYK query On 28 May 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Room 8, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

--BorgQueen (talk) 10:47, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I just had my own first DYK with a photo of a McDonald's Sign (Pine Bluff, Arkansas). I, too, was completely over the moon about it (thus part of my reasoning in starting to assess other DYK nominations). I am so glad you got to see it on the front page, of all the ones that I looked at yesterday, I truly enjoyed reading about Room 8. I even enjoyed reading further in some of the reference material. [edit] VISUAL3D.NET

Regarding deletion of several images to do with VISUAL3D.net, I'm not sure exactly what happened, the article did infact exist it was removed without anyone notifying me, and the images were tied to that article.

"A tag has been placed on Visual3D.NET requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words."

What in the world are you talking about???? I AM a realmware employee and those are my words!!! Secondly, It's not copyright infringement when full permission is given by the company and by one of its employees!(sorry if i sound agitated, i spent alot of time on this article). You can view view my profile and contact me here(http://www.visual3d.net/forum/member.php?u=26)

Can you please restore the article and all related images(i spent a great deal of time uploading these). Thefifthlord (talk) 15:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Student Approaches to Learning

Can you explain to me what you would not mark as an essay according to Wikipedia's terms? I am angry about the removal of my entry about student apporaches to learning. It was an objective statement that sumamrised the views of a number of authors. That is what an encyclopdia entry does. It was not personal opinion and if that is defined as an essay then all of the articles here would have to be reomoved.

I am a senior UK academic and I have been a long term supporter of wikipedia amongst colleagues who treat it with the utmost contempt. I am beginning to agree with my colleagues views.Ardalby (talk) 21:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
