[edit] Is this needed?

At present what this article would have that would better go in minifigure (if it's about minifigs in general), or an article on the relevant theme (such as Lego Pirates for the pirate and the redcoat). Perhaps something about the development in Lego characters in general (such as how lego has used comics to create specific characters, to how newer things have minifigs representing specific characters instead of a general type, etc), but I'm not sure if that would make a coherent article.
