[edit] C.R. 1 gaps

There are gaps in this route description from:

Wyoming to Minn 23 just south of Hinckley (presumably I-35);
From Moose Lake north (I-35 again?); and
Duluth to Canadian border (U.S. 61 again).

Is this correct? Kablammo 01:05, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

The gaps where Mn/DOT does not call it CR 1 are as follows:

  • I-35, exits 12 to 56
  • TH 60 and TH 21 in Faribault
  • I-35, exits 135 to 159
  • TH 70 in Rock Creek
  • I-35, exits 165 to 191
  • I-35, exits 195 to 214
  • TH 27 in Moose Lake
  • I-35, exits 216 to 235
  • I-35, exit 239 to Duluth

There are also gaps through St. Paul and Duluth, filled in 1933 by LR 102 and LR 103. --NE2 02:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Some notes

I just found [1], which shows that all routes are clearly defined, even on overlaps. (It also answers a few questions and may raise a few.) After seeing that, I'm not sure if the table, which would increase in complexity, is a good idea. The highway to route mapping could be in the articles about the highways, and, in the other direction, routes 1-70 were actually signed, and so those numbers that weren't kept probably merit a separate article or a merge into another, and routes greater than 70 mostly became one highway, at least at first. Below I'll work on a list of these original numbers. --NE2 07:07, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

You already mentioned that you found some overlaps. I wanted to point out that MnDOT sent me an excel spreadsheet dated 2002 that actually had several cases of overlap...where there were multiple legislative/constitutional routes on a given stretch of highway. IIRC, there were a few segments that had 4 or 5 LR/CRs on them. Am waiting on a reply from MnDOT about a more recent status than 2002. Ajfroggie (talk) 21:43, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

After making the list, I find that my suspicions were correct, and most can be covered under one route. The following may have issues:

  • 80: now TH 16
  • 83: now TH 68
  • 85: then TH 60 and TH 73, but now all TH 60
  • 88: TH 39 and TH 73 (TH 39 is best)
  • 98: now US 8
  • 110: US 169 and TH 47 (TH 47 is best)
  • 117: TH 13 and TH 100 (TH 13 is best)
  • 122: TH 111 and US 14 (TH 111 is best)
  • 140: now TH 172
  • 144: TH 119, TH 40, and TH 73 (TH 119 is best)
  • 162: now TH 200
  • 168: now TH 200
  • 171: now TH 171
  • 181: TH 108 and TH 78 (TH 108 is best)
  • 185: now mostly TH 123
  • 195: now US 69
  • 209: now TH 25
  • 210: now TH 9
  • Duluth and Twin Cities routes

The following probably do have issues:

  • 116
  • 127
