[edit] History
Everblight was one of the many dragons spawned when Lord Toruk split his athanc. Everblight was one of the physically weakest dragons, but he possessed one quality that his brothers lacked: he knew the extent of his powers, their limits, and how to utilise them to their fullest potential. While his siblings attacked Toruk, Everblight fled the battle, planning to build his powerbase before he challenged his primogenitor.
The first country to catch Everblight's interest was the ancient human kingdom of Morrdh, the first nation to wield the art of necromancy. Through the skillful use of mediators and pawns, Everblight quickly took over Morrdh. However, Everblights rule was not to last. Eventually, Toruk became aware of the blight lingering about the lands of Morrdh, and attacked. Everblight, realizing that he couldn't defeat his Father, fled Morrdh, heading towards Blindwater Lake, close to where one of his brothers, Nektor, rested.
While Toruk and Nektor set upon each other, Everblight hid in the depths of Blindwater Lake, slowly recovering from his injuries. In 840 BR, the dragon once again begane to move, this time towards the elven kingdom of Ios. Following the departure of the elven gods, Everblight settled beneth the fane of Ayisla, in the city of Issyrah, and began to draw the elves into his clutches. Taking the name Ethrunbal, Everblight slowly converted more and more elves to his cause, slowly preparing to take over all of Ios. This second rule, however, was not to last either.
In 390 AR, the people of Issyrah set upon Everblight in his lair, and after a violent battle, Everblight's body was undone. His athanc was sealed away at the top of Mount Shyleth Breen, and for many years he raged at having been thwarted once again. But, his powers remained strong, even without a body, and he slowly began to project a sense of dread into the hearts of the Iosans, hoping to make them move his athanc further away from them, and possibly escape while being moved.
The elves, however, succeeded in moving his athanc far into northern Khador, and Everblight despaired of ever rising again. Luckily (for the dragon, at least), the Nyss elves lived close by, as did a small number of ogrun. Sensing these peoples, Everblight made one more attempt to escape his confinement. His release would come with the arrival of Thagrosh Helleborn.
Thagrosh, being a rather simple ogrun, was easily manipulated by Everblight, and the soon to be Prophet released the dragons athanc from its prison. However, instead of taking a body once more, Everblight decided that it was time for a change of plans. Everblight ordered Thagrosh to cut his chest open, and drive the athanc into his heart. Everblights mind blending with that of Thagrosh, the ogrun walked down from the mountain which had served as the dragons prison for so long, now changed beyond recognition.
Now free once again, Everblight began to plan his conquest of the Nyss, something which he accomplished with the aid of Vayl Hallyr. This evil Nyss offered Everblight all the information he would need to subjugate the Nyss shardes; in return, she would become part of Everblights new order. With this information, Everblight's forces, led by his Prophet, Thagrosh, quickly subjugated the Nyss. Only a few of the Nyss succeeded in escaping, taking their god Nyssor with them.
Having taken control of almost all of the Nyss, Everblight now turns his eyes south, towards the lands of man.
[edit] Recent History
Recently, as of the action in Evolution, Goreshade the Bastard, a cryxian warcaster, has approached Thagrosh, offering him knowledge on the whereabouts of a dragon named Pyromalfic. Gathering his forces, Thagrosh made his way south towards the Castle of the Keys in the Bloodstone Marches. Following a fierce threeway battle with the Circle Orboros and the skorne, Everblights forces slew Pyromalfic, and Thagrosh consumed his athanc, increasing Everblight's powers exponentially. Everblight's forces are currently making their way back north, looking to recover from their losses, while at the same time suffering continuous harassment from the Circle.
[edit] Notable Warlocks
Lylyth, Herald of Everblight
Even before receiving the blessing of Everblight, Lylyth Voassyr was a born huntress practically without peer. Although the dragon’s blight has taken her eyes, it has only increased her effectiveness in battle. Everblight has bestowed upon Lylyth an almost omniscient awareness of battle’s chaos and deep connection with the dragonspawn under her command.
Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight
The annals of history will remember Thagrosh Hellborne as the ogrun who unleashed the Legion of Everblight onto the world. Everblight is his patron, constant advisor, and god. The blight he spreads extends down from the icy north while he strides at its vanguard as death made flesh. He is a terror unequalled on Caen, able to wield the greatest blighted magic, leaving the choking ash of blighted annihilation in his wake.
Vayl, Disciple of Everblight
Vayl paved the way for Thagrosh and provided the Legion with a true army by aiding in the corruption of thousands of Nyss. She was a traitor to her people even before she became the first to embrace Everblight's transformation willingly. Vayl is a sorceress of unmatched power who taps into the strength of cold and ice to pierce flesh and numb the minds of her enemies.
Rhyas, Sigil of Everblight
Rhyas was the more bold and brutal of physically identical sisters, as powerful and swift with a blade as her sister proved with chanted syllables of arcane power. Rhyas is now among the upper tier of Everblight's chosen, and she obeys the dictates of his Prophet. She is the Sigil of Everblight, and her blade carves runes of blood across the flesh of her enemies.
Saeryn, Omen of Everblight
While her twin sister excelled at swordplay, Saeryn embraced and mastered her arcane power. She foresaw the coming of Everblight and knew that joining the dragon would bring glory beyond the dreams of any Nyss. Now among Everblight's inner circle, Saeryn uses arcane skill and her supernatural connection to her sister to crush the dragon's enemies in pursuit of her destiny.
[edit] Warbeasts
Legion warbeasts place emphasis on the ability to outmaneuver the enemy, and inflicting ludicrous amounts of damage upon Everblight's foes. However, they aren't extremely durable. Legion of Everblight is currently the only faction to have lesser warbeasts.
[edit] Heavy:
Carnivean
The Carnivean is a weapon of death and terror designed for slaughter. The enormous six-limbed monstrosity is covered in thick armored scales and boasts a horrific breath weapon that vomits scorching naphtha capable of melting flesh and igniting every nerve with the pain of blighted destruction.
Angelius
The six-winged Angelius screams into the sky as a pronouncement of Everblight's power. This beast falls like a sword upon its prey, pierces any armor with its barbed tail, and rises again despite all attempts to halt it. Soaring for the first time in two thousand years, the Angelius gluts itself on slaughter as the Legion inexorably advances south.
[edit] Light:
Seraph
Peerless in their graceful movements and blighted beauty, the Seraphim are Everblight’s messengers of death. Its long tail ends in a wickedly barbed poison barb capable of piercing armor and flesh with equal ease. The Seraph rarely engages in melee, preferring to breathe its incendiary ash which licks out to annihilate adversaries at great distance, strafing past a group of foes to obliterate entire formations.
Teraph
The most patient and silent dragonspawn, the teraph burrows into the ground to lay in ambush where it strikes with its poisonous tail or explosive breath whenever an enemy comes close. Known for the speed of its strike, the teraph forms an essential part of the Legion's formations. It can sow terror and confusion when it obliterates a foe in cloud of blighted ash.
Nephilim Solider
The recently spawned nephilim epitomize Everblight's capacity for invention. Developing them as he lurked below Issyrah, Everblight has successfully combined elven flesh with blighted blood to produce a twisted servant capable of independent thought. Possessed of a soul and a spark of self-will, the nephilim embodies Everblight's vision of perfection and the fruits of centuries of labor.
Raek
A long-forgotten monster of prehistory, the raek hunted and terrorized the enemies of the dragon and his servants. Now the Legion calls these sleek and graceful predators forth again to hunt across endless distances. The raek’s tracking skills and killing power exemplify Everblight’s genius at improving upon nature.
[edit] Lesser:
Shredder
Driven by ravenous hunger and murderous instinct, Shredders are fearsomely effective at latching onto and chewing apart any foe unfortunate enough to face them. The more they eat, the more frenetic they become, and sometimes their appetite drives them to consume each other in times of frenzy.
Harrier
Sowing terror from the skies, Harriers can rend through multiple foes as they fly by or call upon their rage to strike one target unerringly. Prized for their speed and maneuverability, these vicious and plentiful horrors provide another potent weapon to the Legion's arsenal.
[edit] Infantry Units
Legion infantry, by and large, focuses on speed and hitting hard. They also have some of the best ranged infantry.
Blighted Swordsmen
These swordsmen are lean and muscular Nyss, the disturbing barbs poking from their flesh betraying their painful blighted rebirth. They fight with absolutely no fear of injury, disdaining armor to enter battle bare-chested, turning their skill on Everblight's enemies. Their dead eyes mirror the serene calm of their perfect union with their blades--the claymores that have been the sacred weapons of the Nyss for millennia.
Blighted Archers
Everblight's taint spreads with little resistance among the Nyss, and it shapes and refines their anatomies into a twisted reflection of inner darkness. Blighted Archers fire hails of deadly arrows that wither the enemy front lines before allies charge through the demoralized defenders. They delight in slaughter and enjoy nothing more than ending lives with deadly arcing arrow fire.
Spawning Vessel & Acolyths
Inscribed with the profane language of dragons, Spawning Vessels reduce the bodies of the slain into charnel fluid that ripples as if alive. When the unnatural concoction is ready, a newborn dragonspawn leaps screeching from the liquid. Acolyths constantly feed the Vessel to swell the ranks of the Legion throughout the battle with fresh lesser warbeasts.
Striders
Striders serve as the Legion's scouts and infiltrators. The blight transformed these former rangers into fleet hunters who navigate terrain with ease and twisted them into bitter, tainted killers who kill casually with a grim satisfaction. Striders keep to the shadows and trees to fall on fleeing enemies and mark the passage of the Legion with corpses.
Warmongers
Twisted, brutal ogrun bread by blight for slaughter, warmongers suffer from twisted visions of madness and rage. Only in battle do they find any true release, and they cleave through friend and foe alike with a strange delight. The blighted Nyss distrust them, but the ogrun care nothing for it. Only slaughter in the name of Everblight matters to them.
Raptors
Nyss Raptors hunted from atop their swift and sure-footed ulk long before the rise of Everblight. Now these killers ride ahead of their approaching Legion comrades to tear apart enemy flanks with flashing swords, wreck formations with precision bow-fire, and let their blighted steeds enthusiastically slash and impale with their massive antlers.
Blighted Legionaries
The Legionnaires effortlessly cut through flesh and bone with perfectly executed strikes. This ancient warrior tradition once tirelessly guarded the passes into Nyss territory. Now twisted by the will of Everblight into Thagrosh's personal guard, they form a wave of tremendous flashing blades that dismembers any standing before them.
Blighted Archer Officer & Ammo Porter
The Legion's hundreds of blighted archers are commanded by deacons who once led entire shards. At their signal, archers aim for the most vulnerable targets and cripple or maim what they cannot slay outright. Young arrow porters allow the archers to fire endlessly without breaking their killing rhythm and provide poisoned arrows to slay the most crucial targets. A unit of Blighted Archers is required to field the Blighted Archer Officer and Ammo Porter.
Scather Weapon Crew
Although not typically used in the Legion's preferred fast-moving style of combat, some blighted Nyss are trained to assemble, transport, and operate light catapults called scathers. These devices launch volleys of spiked ammunition along with concentrated dragon blight.
[edit] Solos
Forsaken
Twisted beyond recognition, the Forsaken are the malignant children of the dragon's accursed touch, and their very presence is anathema to life. They feed upon the rage and misery of the battlefield and can mimic their master's burning aura to generate a mantle of blighted essence so overwhelming they can strike the living dead by mere proximity.
Shepard
Nyss shepherds possess a quality that allows them to almost touch the intangible connection between warlock and dragonspawn. A warlock may extend his will beyond normal limits and produce sometimes unexpected bursts of power by relying upon the ministrations of a shepherd. Shepherds serve as direct intermediaries to conjoin spawn and warlock in an almost ecstatic hyperawareness over great distances.
Incubi
The incubus infects its host as a sentient disease and awaits the energies released by death to transform slain Nyss into hideous draconic abominations and continue fighting. Their attacks rend flesh and spirits alike. No one can detect which blighted Nyss hosts a lurking incubus until an inhuman cry of pain heralds the creature tearing through the flesh of its host to attack.
[edit] Playstyle
The Legion of Everblight faction is a heavy-hitting, fast, but fragile army. Most of the troop types generally have very high speed, combined with ability to ignore all forms of cover and concealment. Their ability to ignore cloud effects, cover and concealment has been commpared to that of maphacks and aimbots. They are also the only faction to have 'winged' beasts, which enable certain warbeasts to fly over enemies without taking free strikes and terrain with no penalty. There is also a noticeable emphasis on ranged combat. However, these powerful abilities makes many Legion units and warbeasts vulnerable to attack and they have a low damage threshold.
